“Get the word out. Teach all these things. And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching.” 1 Timothy 4:12-14
Youth leaders along with youth Pastors under the direction of our leader Simone planned and executed a week in spiritual emphasis under the theme Empowered. For the third year, the Metro East Regional Youth Association united in prayer with one goal; to empower our youth. Who would think that an event of such spiritual magnitude could be planned in such a short time and even over the phone? But we are young people with a vision, on a mission to empower the youth within our district.
March 9 was game day and the ball was in Scarborough half and they kick off the play with a full day of worship, food, fellowship, and spiritual blessing. Now that the play has started it continued with the same zeal and passion across the Metro East Region. The ball was dribbled across to Apple Creek on Sunday night. With the same mission and vision, Apple Creek was ready to empower the youth and all their supporters. The play was not over until souls were scored and our referee Pastor Paul Smith was ready for the next play at Ajax on Monday night and Mount Gilead on Tuesday Night.
Youth and supporters were in for a treat as Pastor Paul Smith blow the whistle out with a bang on his last night at Agape Temple, where youth were empowered to continued to score for Christ. The night continued with fellowship, food, and basketball. As the play intensified, Pastor Andre Anderson took over as the referee at Shiloh on Thursday night and he did not disappoint. As we drew nearer the end of our youth week of prayer Pastor Jeremain Parker took over on Friday night at Toronto East. Toronto East Continued the nightly tradition with the serving of spring roll, samosas, and soup. It was a ‘bellyful’ all around, both spiritual and physical.
The play was about to culminate with the kick of the ball off the field to the street on Saturday, March 16. Full teams of youth from the Metro East Churches became the sermon as we ministered within our communities. The food bank, nursing home, and other institutions were happy to receive the message of service from our cheerful young people. It has been seven nights since the ball was first put into play and no one wanted the play to end. It has come to the final play, everyone was excited, the cheer was loud, youth were rejoicing in Christ.
Philadelphia hosted the final play before the last whistle was blown. American got talent has nothing on the talents of Metro East Youth. Spoken words, comedy act, instrumental, skit, and vocals were some of the talents showcased. The final whistle is about to be blown but not before Pastor John Scott, Ontario conference Youth director, bring the play to a close with his message. MVP was awarded to our outgoing president Dominique for outstanding service to the Metro East Regional youth association for the last two years.
See you again next year for another kick off of our Metro East youth week of prayer. Goooal for Christ!
